How to build a Google Chrome App

Hi!

As some of you know already, I made a Google Chrome App for YWB.

If you want to make your own for your own website (you must own the website!) here’s a quick and easy tutorial on how to do just that.

1. Create a file called manifest.json in Notepad or any other text editor, and enter the following code in:

{

"name": "NAME OF YOUR APP HERE",

"version": "1",

"icons": { "128": "icon.png" },

"app": {

"urls": [

"http://PUT-THE-URL-OF-YOUR-WEBSITE-HERE"

],

"launch": {

"web_url": "http://PUT-THE-URL-OF-YOUR-WEBSITE-HERE"

}

}

}

2. Replace the capitalized words with whatever you want.

3. Find an icon for the app and put it in the same directory as the manifest.json file

4. Rename the icon to icon.png

You’re done!

To use it personally, just go to chrome://extensions in Google Chrome, enable development mode, and click “Load unpacked extension”. Then simply choose the folder the manifest.json file is in.

I won’t get into how to publish the app to the Chrome Web Store, but here is the documentation:
