How to publish a press release

Have you ever written and published a press release?
Perhaps not, well if so, or you just want to find out a bit more please read our review of and some tips to getting your press release published online.

So what is a Press Release?

A press release is basically an article which you release to the “press”.  This could be news journalists, news sites, bloggers, radios all sorts.

Why publish a press release?

A press release can help get your news out and may mean that journalists pick up your story and write about it on their website.  A press release helps build authority and get you listed on major news sites in some cases.  A press release can help your site’s SEO (Search Engine Optimisation or Rankings).  You do not have to be a large company to publish a press release, most definately not.

How much will a press release cost to publish?

A press release can be free in a lot of circumstances, you can submit your website to a lot of free press release websites.  You can send your press release directly to news outlets and journalist or bloggers.   You can also pay to have your press release sent with pretty much guarunteed approval as long as you meet the “distributors requirements”.

We can publish a press release for free:

The one I have used is for a list of more free press release websites go here.

Onlineprnews lets you publish 1 free press release per day with a live link to your website in the contact area, you are also able to optimize your title and meta tags for search engine visibility.  For sites that allow you to place links within the press release please visit the above list of free PR sites.

So,  the best part I found about onlineprnews was the $79 PR.  In terms of press release distribution this is a pretty standard price, however this is actually quite a reasonable price compared to some other sites.  The editor was great, I was able to edit my press release until it was approved, I have tried a few PR sites and I actually quite like this one.  The only downfall is the FREE PR is a little better on some other websites.
Some of the features are:
  • All SEO Benefits PLUS
  • Video Embedding
  • Slideshow Embedding
  • Block Quotes
  • Interactive Report
  • Higher Headline Visibility
  • 40+ Full Page Syndications
  • Multimedia File Uploading
  • PDF Published On DocStoc
  • SEO Title Editing
Your press release for this price will be distributed to top news sites in your market, you can see more here:

Press releases have a certain format you should adhere to.  You will learn a lot about it in the guide.  I advise that you try to include at least one quote even if you are writing it, the purpose of the press release is for press to publish your news.
You can see it on a few other sites too!
The prices to distribute press releases are high if you do not have the money to pay for marketing, but for established business’s these are the going rates.  Press releases are pretty standard even if they do not get you much attention companies will pay for them to get the word out.
My advice is if you do not have the funds try out
with 1 on free PR sites like onlineprnews offers.  Send your PR to bloggers/journalists.
When you get the budget to pay, baring in mind the one that I used is actually quite reasonable in the industry.  Then you may want to consider one of the lower packages.
For large companies there are $300 + for 1 Press release that will send your news to 5000 + websites and much more “authority sites”.
You should be careful however, as some of the cheaper packages on other PR sites send your news to very low quality sites that do not benefit you much.
OnlinePRnews works with, and many others.
