Interview with Dillon Brooks 17 Year old Web Developer

Dillon Brooks is a successful young web-builder with a large array of sites he has built, he is also the owner of www.adminpeak.com which is a successful webmaster and forum management discussion site.

Can i ask how old you are?

I am 17 years old, 18 in June.

How long have you been running websites?

I have been running websites ever since I was 10.

How many websites do you have right now?

I currently have 15 websites although only 9 of them are complete/online and the rest are on hold or in the middle of development.

Do any of them make you any money?

Yes, they all make money, I have various ways and I’m always trying to earn more but 99% of the time I’m only earning that money to put back into improving them and for contests and giveaways on my forums.

How much time do you spend on your websites?

I spend far too much time on here, well that’s what some would say but I love it. I would spent a good solid 14 hours a day working on something website related and often that’s bumped up to 16-17 hours depending on how much I sleep. I love it more than anything else I could do so I see no reason not to really dedicate myself.

Do you have any plans to build any new sites?

At the momet I have no real plans but I always have new ideas so realistically only time will tell.

You run www.AdminPeak.com, what would you say is the best advice you could give to a new forum administrator?

The best piece of advice I could give to a new administrator is to know your niche, love your niche and do not rely on “promotion forums” as your only source of traffic. I have said that last part many times and I always will.. If you want to succeed you must realize that they’re a dead end and will only get you so far.

Where does your knowledge of forum administration come from?

All of my knowledge is pure experience. Since opening my very first gaming forum on a free forum host back when I was 10 I have come very far and learned a lot. When you start at a young age you really understand what works and what doesn’t. The things you need to do and the things you don’t.

What would you say are the best ways to gaining new members to a forum?

If we’re talking about newer forums then I think a nice clean forum layout that is appealing to everything and a constant flow of new and interest topics. A lot of people say themes don’t matter but they’re wrong and I stand by that. Because of how easy it is to open a forum themes day there’s just so many people doing it and without a damn nice theme I feel it’s just too hard to stand out.

How do you build an active and successful forum?

There’s only two things you need for a successful forum.. Time and Dedication. These are both key and with both of them you’re almost guaranteed success. Another thing one is to know and love your niche which in sense comes into the dedication.. You need to dedicate yourself to your forum, your commmunity and especially your niche. People don’t want to join a forum and see the admin has no idea what they’re talking about.

Thanks very much for your time today Dillon!

Thankyou
