Top 5 Free Tumblr Themes

Top 5 Free Tumblr Themes

Tumblr is surely becoming a growing platform for blogging, only providing competition for the likes of Blogger and WordPress, which have been around for long before it’s day. Tumblr is a light and much more responsive platform for blogging, but your blog still needs to look good, right? That’s why we’ve narrowed down the top 5 free themes for Tumblr.

All of the themes we have listed are accessible directly through the customization page on your Tumblr blog. In the themes selection menu, just choose “Free themes” from the drop-down.

Simple Things (by danhauk)

We think the title of this one describes it very well. It’s extremely simple, and it does this through presented the theme in a clean and sleek manner. We also absolutely love how you have the ability to fix the banner at the top of the page, so that it stays at the top whilst scrolling through your blog. However, the text size presented in this theme is a little small for our liking, but that can easily be amended through the HTML file for theme.

Pink Touch 2 (by kcmr)

I’ve been using this one on my personal blog for a little while now. At first glance, it can be easy for this one to be avoided, as none of us really want to sacrifice our masculinity. However, Pink Touch 2 features a variety of options that allows you to make the theme a little less “pink”. Still, I kept the pink, because pink is masculine, right?

Showroom (by mixpanel)

Nowadays, wood isn’t just stylish for kitchen cupboards, but it’s actually quite widespread across blogs aswell! Kitchen Cupboard talk aside, Showroom is actually a pretty clean looking theme and it leaves alot to be desired for by other Tumblr themes. Furthermore, the design of sidebar widgets is pulled off well, with the use of the pin-board design that is included.

Lightweight (by arturkim)

We’ve touched on simplicity with alot of the aforementioned themes, however none of them get quite as simple as this one. Lightweight is exactly what it says on the tin. It features a single thin collum down the middle, with space for a number of posts, along with space at the top for a banner of your choice along with links to various places on the net. If you’re looking for a neat and reformed way to store your writings, look no further.

Next Saturday (by ianmintz)

If you’re a bold individual with alot of bold things to say, then Next Saturday is surely the right theme for you. It features a wide variety of colour options for you to choose from, all with a very bold and stand out nature about them. It also features all the standard functionality to do with search, tags, Disqus integration and a whole lot more.

They’re our top 5 Tumblr themes. We’ve only highlighted a few of the free design options Tumblr have on offer. To view the full list and make your own mind up, head to the Tumblr theme garden.
